your missionOwn and strengthen our regional compliance framework across Africa - covering regulatory compliance, AML/CFT, policies, monitoring, and training - while working closely with the business to make responsible growth possible as we enter new markets, launch products, and expand our network.

your responsibilities

  • Own the regional compliance framework - policies, procedures, and internal controls aligned with Group standards
  • Design compliance controls that are proportionate and workable on the ground - practical enough for branch, field, and partner teams to apply consistently, and structured enough to hold as volumes grow
  • Act as compliance partner on new market entries and new product launches, from feasibility through go-live
  • Oversee regional AML/CFT, KYC, sanctions, and financial crime compliance programmes
  • Run the compliance monitoring plan and track findings through to closure
  • Lead regulatory reporting and inspections, and manage engagement with local regulators
  • Report on compliance status and key risks to regional management, Group Compliance, and Board-level committees
  • Guide local compliance teams and coordinate training and awareness to drive consistent practice across markets.
  • Partner with Legal, Risk, Internal Audit, and other control functions

what we're looking for

  • A bachelor's degree in law, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in compliance, risk, audit, or regulatory affairs
  • Prior in-house experience within financial services, fintech, banking, or another regulated sector
  • Demonstrated experience implementing AML/CFT programmes and compliance monitoring activities
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance and risk-based compliance principles
  • Good knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC, sanctions and financial crime prevention
  • Practical and solutions-oriented approach to compliance matters
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-jurisdictional environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Collaborative, proactive and able to challenge constructively when required
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English

  • A relevant professional compliance certification (e.g. CAMS, ICA, CISI)
  • Experience setting up or improving compliance processes from the ground up
  • Multi-jurisdictional experience
